Easy guitar songs to play

Here's the situation, your hanging out with some friends and there's a guitar in the corner just calling for you to pick it up and play a tune. Or your Aunt Ruth is coming over tonight and is expecting to hear you play something. Oh no, what are you gonna do? It can be really frustrating for a guitarist who doesn't have a few songs up his or her sleeve to play at any given time. If you have been playing guitar for any amount of time, you know what I mean. Someone asks you to play something on your guitar and you can't think of anything.

So what should you play for them, a G scale? The new chord you learned the other day? No, they want to hear a tune. A melody. Surely you should be able to come up with some easy guitar songs to play, right? You don't have to let this happen to you. With a little time and practice, you can have a good list of easy guitar songs to play and/or sing ready to pull out of your gig bag of tricks to impress your listeners.
